We challenged participants to fast-forward to the year 2035 and pitch the kind of startup they would have already built. No limits. No filters. Just unbridled imagination and future-first thinking.

In a sea of predictable pitches, the Reverse Pitch Challenge was a breath of fresh vision. The responses? Bold, brilliant, and a little bit wild—just the way real innovation should be.
From neural headbands that turned thoughts into art, to smart glasses enhancing sensory navigation, and AI-powered education tools reshaping how we learn—these were not just ideas. They were windows into possible tomorrows. Some entries reimagined fitness, others rewired security. But all of them shared one thing: they didn’t wait for the future to happen—they built it.

The Philippines: quietly becoming a global innovation player
While the pitches fired up our imagination, the data gave us reason to believe.
In the 2024 Global Innovation Index, the Philippines climbed to 53rd among 133 economies—up from 56th in 2023. This is more than a numbers game; it reflects the steady rise of a country ready to lead in innovation.
Here’s what’s worth celebrating:
- 1st in high-tech exports globally
- 4th in high-tech imports
- 13th in utility models by origin
- 3rd among lower-middle-income economies
- 5th in ASEAN
These rankings are backed by the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD) 2023–2032, which lays out a comprehensive plan to develop an agile, inclusive, and future-ready innovation ecosystem.
